Topanga Town Council

The Topanga Town Council will hold its next community monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. online.  All are welcome to attend the Town Council meetings.

It's that time again- time for a Town Council meeting to discuss a wide range of issues impacting the community! Meetings are open to the public, and everyone is warmly invited to join us.
To begin, we'd like to give a special shout-out to Jaspreet Katrib, who coordinated with Town Council stalwarts, Stacy Sledge and Tam Taylor, to organize a scrumptious Chili Dinner for our local firefighters!
Our featured guest this month will be Rachael Simon, Housing and Homelessness Deputy for the Third District Supervisor, Sheila Kuehl. Deputy Simon will update us on how the implementation of the WIldfire-Encampments Motion is progressing as well as provide information on the County's current approach to managing the homelessness crisis in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ).  Please note that the County has officially started its Winter Emergency Shelter Program (from Nov. 1, 2021-March 31, 2022). I have attached a flyer that outlines the procedure for accessing an emergency shelter and lists their locations. All shelters require people to be 18+ and to call before coming, as capacity is limited. Transportation can be arranged to some shelters by calling 2-1-1. Please note that pets ARE allowed at facilities as well as up to two bags. Shelters will be operating 24 hours a day due to Covid 19, and three meals will be served daily.
The Town Council is working with Susan Clark, James Grasso, and the County to conduct a formal homeless count in our community this year (in January) so that Topanga can receive the funding and resources it needs to properly address this crisis. We are seeking volunteers who might like to help with the count and/or assist with outreach and rehousing efforts.   Please send a message to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you would like to help.
In addition, the independent Citizens Redistricting Commission (CRC) for Los Angeles County has released its preliminary maps for the redistricting process. The Commission is holding several public meetings and hearings between now and December 7, 2021 to gather public input in order to fine-tune these maps and complete the redistricting process. The Topanga Town Council has held a series of focused meetings to develop its own position based on community feedback, historical precedent, current challenges and future needs. If you would like to share your redistricting concerns and preferences with us, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
*Finally, if you have any concerns with the current road/undergrounding work occurring in town, please reach out to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.and let us know. We are meeting periodically with Public Works, SCE, the County, and Caltrans to discuss mitigations and enhanced communication around daily road-work/undergrounding activities, lane closures, etc.
