Join the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning to Discuss Updates to the Santa Monica Mountains North Area Plan

The LA County Department of Regional Planning is currently working to update the Santa Monica Mountains North Area Plan. The SMMNAP is a component of the General Plan that provides more focused policy for the regulation of development within the North Area to ensure that land use regulations and environmental protections are applied consistently and effectively. The SMMNAP seeks to provide protections to the area's native wild animals, including mountain lions, and the natural habitats they enjoy.

The Department of Regional Planning has prepared a draft update of the SMMNAP, and the related Santa Monica Mountains North Area Community Standards District (CSD), and will host two open house meetings to discuss the updates and proposed changes.

The first meeting, on Thursday, October 25, will be hosted by the Las Virgenes Homeowner's Federation, and will be held at the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District's Board Room, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

The second meeting, on Wednesday, November 14, will be hosted by the Topanga Town Council, and will be held at the Topanga Library's Meeting Room, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

The county will be accepting comments on the draft SMMNAP and CSD at these meetings and via email through the end of November 2018.
