Come pick up a free wildfire and disaster alert NOAA radio from the Topanga Library in August.

 

On June 1, 2022, the Los Angeles County Waterworks Districts issued mandatory water restrictions due to severe drought in California, accumulating over the past three years. The Topanga Town Council is currently in communication with local and state officials on how to create better and smarter water management policies that address allotment and equity issues. The Town Council is seeking input from residents about their questions, concerns, and challenges with the new water restrictions. 

 

"At this time, communities within the West Basin service area are not affected by these mandatory water restrictions since we receive 100% of our imported water from the Colorado River Aqueduct."

Topanga Elementary is launching a new Green Club for students. The goal is to engage Topanga's children, families, and community in stewarding the school's natural resources and living more sustainably.

 

Are you experiencing coverage/connection issues in and around Topanga that have developed recently (within the last year or so)? The Topanga Town Council is working with other nonprofits in the community and County officials to figure out what's going on and how the issue can be resolved as quickly as possible.

 

Topanga Canyon is now officially recognized as a “Firewise” community by the National Fire Protection Association (“NFPA”) and CalFire, which means that Topangans have taken a quantifiable number of actions on their property and within the community to make their homes and the wider landscape more resistant to wildfires and the damage they cause. This recognition confers more than mere “bragging rights.” It entitles those of us within the recognized Firewise area to a discount on certain insurance plans as long as the community continues to meet its Firewise obligations and remains “in good standing.”
