On October 26, the Topanga Town Council hosted a Candidate Conversation webinar, which featured Third District Supervisor candidates, Senator Bob Hertzberg and Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath, engaging with the community in two, sequential 45-minute sessions.

In hosting the Candidate Conversation, the Town Council’s goal was to offer an event to inform the Topanga community about the issues at stake in this election and how each candidate plans to address them. Both candidates engaged in a lively discussion on a wide range of topics affecting Topanga. Webinar attendees were encouraged to submit their questions live using Zoom’s Chat and Q&A features.

WHO WAS THERE?

The Town Council was pleased to see that approximately 170 registrants signed up to participate, which demonstrates the high level of interest among Topangans about the governance of this community. Along with the Topanga Town Council, panelists from local organizations were present, including: Topanga Coalition for Emergency Preparedness (TCEP), Canyon Sages, Fire Safe Council, Topanga Association for a Scenic Community (TASC), and the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains (RCDSMM), who all chimed in with questions.

In the Q&A session, Topanga residents asked about waste management, cell service, disasters, homelessness, crime and more. In the chat, attendees asked questions were asked about traffic, county building regulations, and encampments.

Questions that were not addressed in the webinar have been forwarded to each candidate for their response, which when received by the Town Council, will be posted on OneTopanga.com. So check the OneTopanga website often to get the latest from the candidates and other election news.
