Published March 30, 2022, at 9:30 p.m.
Topanga Elementary is launching a new Green Club for students. The goal is to engage Topanga's children, families, and community in stewarding the school's natural resources and living more sustainably.
The Green Club will be meeting on select Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. to hike up the Greenleaf trail to the school’s five acres of oak woodlands, where club leaders will teach kids about the native oaks and plants of the Santa Monica mountains, watering and caring for young plants, and observing wildlife, weather, and seasonal changes.
The club will discuss positive actions we can take to be resourceful and resilient as we face the challenges of climate change.
The first meeting will be SATURDAY, April 2. If you'd like to join, head to the Greenleaf trailhead to Backbone Trail (on Greenleaf Canyon Blvd, just off of TCB) at 9 a.m.
Bring water bottles and snacks and be ready for some fun in our mountains!
Other Green Club meetings will be on these Saturdays:
4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 6/4
