Should Restaurants Temporarily Charge Extra for On-Site Dining? If So How Much?
Posted: February 18, 2021, 4:30 p.m.
LA County's Department of Consumer and Business Affairs needs feedback from business owners and associations.
Share your thoughts on the COVID-19 Recovery Charge — a proposed temporary program in which restaurants, breweries, and wineries may add a surcharge for on-site dining within the unincorporated areas of LA County (this includes Topanga).
The surcharge would only apply to on-premises dining and drinking. It would not act as a substitution for tax, gratuity, or tip, and would be clearly outlined on menus and bills, and be displayed on the counter or in another conspicuous place. The temporary surcharge would also sunset 90 days after full indoor dining is once again permitted.
