PSPS Meeting: How to Plan Ahead

Screen Shot 2019 10 11 at 5.06.21 PM

SCE to Discuss Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) on Nov. 4, at the Topanga Library

Topanga Library is hosting David Ford, Senior Government Relations Manager at Southern California Edison for a presentation on how to prepare for a Public Safety Power Shutoff.

According to SCE, in order to keep communities safe, power may need to be turned off as a preventative measure of last resort if the utility reasonably believes that there is an imminent and significant risk that strong winds may topple power lines or cause major vegetation-related issues leading to increased risk of fire. It is important to prepare an emergency plan in advance in the event your family is affected by a power shutoff – or any other emergency.

This is also an opportunity to sign up as a Medical Baseline Customer. To be eligible, you or someone who lives with you full-time must require use of a medical device. If a rare Stage 3 Emergency is declared, Medical Baseline Customers will automatically be contacted with a pre-recorded telephone message.

The meeting will take place on November 4, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Topanga Library (122 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd.).
