Coronavirus: Updates and Resources from Representative Ted Lieu
Article posted: March 4, 2020

As your Member of Congress, one of my top priorities is to keep you informed on pressing matters. My staff and I continue to receive rapidly evolving information regarding the global coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) and I want to provide you with the relevant resources so you can stay up to date on the latest developments.

As you may have seen, the House has passed an $8.3 billion spending measure to fund the federal government’s response to the coronavirus and to assist state and local governments. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the California Department of Public Health are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as local governments and health care providers. We are fortunate to have smart and dedicated health professionals monitoring and managing this illness at both local and federal levels. I urge you to continue to heed their advice and guidance as new information emerges. My office will continue to update constituents as necessary, and we are always available to answer questions or direct you to additional resources.

One of the most effective ways you can mitigate risks to you and your family is to employ routine hygiene practices. Those include: washing your hands regularly, coughing or sneezing into your sleeve, and staying home if you are feeling ill.

It is also important to remember that people should never be excluded from activities based on their race or country of origin. Our community prides itself on being open and diverse. In order to keep our neighbors safe, we cannot allow xenophobia or misinformation to spread.
